About the job: 

This position is based in Brunssum, Netherlands. You will join the Agency as we embark on a journey to transform our IT services to support NATO’s Digital Endeavour. You will join the NATO Infrastructure Services Centre (NISC), which is accountable for planning and executing the full lifecycle management activities (design, transition and operations) for the identified area of responsibility. NISC provides generic, domain independent, technical functionality that enables and facilitates the operation and use of Information Technology resources. 

We are looking for a driven and enthusiastic Engineer (Digital Infrastructure) who will take on the following roles and responsibilities: 

• Information security
• Systems design
• Systems integration and build
• IT infrastructure
• System software
• Storage management

About you:

The valuable knowledge and experience that you bring to this role are: 

• A minimum requirement of a Bachelor’s degree at a nationally recognised/certified University in a related discipline and 2 years post-related experience.
• Or exceptionally, the lack of a university degree may be compensated by the demonstration of a candidate’s particular abilities or experience that is/are of interest to NCIA, that is, at least 6 years extensive and progressive expertise in duties related to the function of the post.  
• At least 2 years practical experience in the designing, implementing, and managing the underlying technology, software and hardware components that ensure the smooth functioning of servers, storage systems, data centers, and cloud services. 
• Proven hands-on experience designing, implementing, and managing hardware/software components across data centers, storage systems, and cloud services for at least 2 years.
• Strong proficiency with VMware ESXi, vCenter, and centralized storage technologies such as FC, iSCSI, SAS, and hyper-converged solutions (vSAN).
• Advanced skills managing Active Directory infrastructures, including federated domains, DNS resolution, GPO development, and server hardening for secure and scalable environments.
• Experience deploying and maintaining high availability systems like failover clustering and DAGs, plus managing Windows patching, anti-malware updates, and access control tools such as McAfee ePO, ENS, and DLPe.
• Deep familiarity with Microsoft Windows Server and RedHat Linux, along with practical expertise in PowerShell/Bash scripting to automate system tasks and improve operational efficiency.
• In-depth understanding of TCP/IP principles, coupled with applied ITIL Service Transition knowledge to optimize service delivery and infrastructure change management.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken
