SHAPE is looking for employing a qualified and suitable candidate to fill this post as a temporary staff from 01 January 2026 until 31 December 2026. In view of the nature and of the urgency of this temporary position, it is important for candidates to be available for temporary employment. Post Context/Post Summary

Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) provides an integrated Strategic Effects framework, employing a multi-domain and multi-region focus to create a 360-degree approach, with the flexibility to enable, upon direction, a seamless transition from Baseline Activities and Current Operations (BACO) up to the Maximum Level of Effort (MLE). SHAPE supports SACEUR in fulfilling his terms of reference, as directed by the North Atlantic Council.

The Command Group (CG) provides and sustains strategic level command and control capabilities to support SACEUR in exercising his command functions.

The Office of the Chief of Staff (OCOS) provides full spectrum support to COS/Vice-COS in fulfilling their duties.

The Office of Organisational Advisory and Change Management (OACM), as an integral part of the Office of the Chief of Staff (OCOS), provides: a holistic, cross-functional, objective analysis and advisory capacity.

The incumbent performs as ACO Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Officer.

Principal Duties

-        To advise leadership in all OHS matters across ACO.

-        To build and lead the ACO OHS Community.

-        To manage processes and procedures aimed at ensuring compliance/respect as required for relevant applicabe NATO OHS rules and regulation.

-        To develop ACO policy documents and programmes aimed at ensuring compliance/respect for relevant applicable OHS rules and regulation and protect ACO, its leadership and staff.

-        To planning and conduct education and training efforts to reinforce familiarity with and application of OHS standards, directives and pertinent host-nation rules and regulations.

-        To identify OHS obligations with regard to implementation of legislation, contracts and regulations.

-        To conduct internal and external co-ordination within SHAPE and with subordinate commands on OHS issues.

-        To act as the focal point on OHS issues and conduct, as appropriate, briefings to staff and management on OHS issues.

Professional/Experience

At least 8 years post related experience with at least 4 years in a multinational organization and demonstrating leading OHS programs over at least 4 years.

Experience in accident prevention.

Experience in developing OHS programs and practical implementation of OHS policies.

Education/Training

University Degree in occupational health, health and safety or related discipline and 8 years post related experience, or Higher Secondary education and completed advanced vocational training in that discipline leading to a professional qualification or professional accreditation with 12 years post related experience.

Desirable Qualifications

-        Experience in an International Organization.

-        Experience in military environment (preferably working in a Staff/HQ Position).

-        Experience of Emergency and Contingency Planning design and implementation.

-        Experience in an environment subject to international organizational legal exemptions and immunities.

-        Experience as an OHS trainer.

WHAT WE OFFER

·        38 hours per week schedule;

·        2.5 paid days of leave per month worked;

·        Fulfilling working atmosphere in an international and military community;

·        Salary: the remuneration of temporary personnel will be specified in their contracts. It is exempt from taxation in the Host Nation.

·        Benefits package: temporary personnel are covered by a benefits package which consists of an additional sum of 12% of basic salary for pension purposes + basic medical and accident insurance provided under the NATO Group insurance contract (death and   invalidity). The total premium for the medical and accident coverage in 2023 will be at 2.57% of the temporary staff member’s salary (2.32% for the medical benefits and 0.25% for accident), payable 1/3 by the temporary personnel and 2/3 by the Organisation”.

·        For staff eligible under NATO rules, there is also a dependent child allowance and coverage for dependent children for medical benefits.
